What is your special talent and how long have you been doing it?

My special talent is that I have a dynamic personality and am very personable and outgoing, along with being completely comfortable speaking publicly, all of which makes me a very confident performer, with undeniable stage presence.

Why do you love performing this talent so much?

I just love to perform. Period. It’s not a hobby for me, but a necessity and a passion. When I’m on stage or camera, it’s where I feel alive!

What is your biggest talent dream and why?

My biggest talent dream is rather simple…Perform, act, sing, dance and collaborate with people who love the craft as much as I do! No matter how grueling rehearsals can be, or how packed my schedule becomes, I never mind if I am a part of a project I am passionate about. Of course I’d love to do final bows on Broadway, or star in a feature film, but on the daily, I want to be happy. I find that happiness, being part of a project or musical I like, developing my craft, and as a bonus, to be working with like-minded people who share the same passion.

Did you ever feel a struggle to keep going or sometimes want to give up? If so, how did you overcome it?

A few years back, I started getting feelings of anxiety before performing.  I was confident I knew the material, yet I would get overwhelming feelings right before or during a performance.  I would successfully complete my role (Hopefully, the audience saw it that way), but I knew it had to be handled, as what I have always loved has now become a daunting task! Instead of ignoring the issue, I went to my parents, and we took the necessary steps to address and tackle the situation. So happy I did because I have been thriving ever since!

Why do you think it is important for talent to learn the spirit of contribution to the greater good and use their talent for good?

Exposure. Exposure. Exposure. If you don’t know about something, or if it’s not right in front of your face, it doesn’t exist. Our culture gets its info from TV, social media outlets and podcasts; some more popular than others. If you are a performer, singer, dancer, someone who is active on one or many of these outlets, you have a far greater reach to the general public every single day. In most cases these days, success and popularity is defined by how many ‘followers’ you have on any particular medium. ‘Followers’ equals viewers; eyes on your material; exposure. Companies used to pay millions for the same exposure on TV and radio alone that is now easily spread to the masses all over the internet.  If you have a platform with people who choose to follow you, I can’t think of any better way to utilize that power than to promote issues and organizations that people need to be made aware of. Use your reach to mobilize action!

Who are some of your biggest influences and how do they inspire you?

I have the privilege of working with, and being mentored by, some of the most brilliant and talented educators of the Arts.

Highlighting a few:

My Voice Coaches (Lisa, Peter, Kevin) teach me how to protect my ‘instrument’ and safely develop my range.

My Directors (Melanie, Allyssa, Mandy, Julie) teach me how to truly engross a character, and remind me of the nuances and beauty of acting.

Following the guidance of these instructors has allowed me to continue to tap into my potential, propelling me onward and upward!

What’s your favorite memory of performing your talent?

Undoubtedly, my favorite memory was in June 2022. It was opening night of ‘Les Miserables’, and I was portraying ‘Gavroche’.  Being a part of my favorite musical, and one so iconic, AND playing a character I adored, was an absolute dream!

What is your best piece of advice you would give to any talent out there?

Continue to work on your craft; be it vocal lessons, dance classes, acting intensives. Don’t look down on ensemble parts! ALL roles are worthwhile, especially to learn and grow and stay active in the industry.

Have realistic expectations! You can give the best audition, be perfect for the part and still not be chosen. Get used to it. You have control over very little, so focus on what you do have control over. Make sure you prepare for your audition, present your best and leave it all in the room. If you do that, you did your job. The callback is a win. Don’t let someone else determine your worth. Decisions are made for reasons you’ll never know, and most of the time, it has ZERO to do with your performance.  Don’t internalize. On to the next!
