How long have you been helping people with their talent and what got you into it?

Danscend has been promoting mental wellness in the performing arts community since 2021.

What has been most satisfying for you in your journey?

We believe that performing artists are happier and healthier when they train their minds in addition to their bodies and their voices. We have been so fortunate to see educators and artists become more confident in their performances with work on their mindset.

How did you learn the professional skills you share with others today?  Who or what influences played into that?

Danscend works with an advisory board of mental health professionals who understand the performing arts to create educational resources and programs for artists around the world.

Did you ever feel a struggle to keep going or sometimes want to give up?  If so, how did you overcome it?

Everyone experiences failure and rejection. In fact, to our brains, a broken heart isn’t that dissimilar to a broken arm. When we experience failure, we make sure to take time to process the feelings that come with it and to give ourselves time to heal, as one would with a physical injury.

What are your thoughts on the concept of helping talent learn the spirit of contribution to the greater good and using their talent for good?

We all feel better when we pay it forward. The performing arts are meant to be shared with our communities and what better way to share than to contribute financially as well as artistically?

Do you have other future aspirations for yourself, your business or training of others?

Danscend hopes to change the way artists around the world approach their work – with a more confident mindset and with resilience that can support longer, happier careers.

Is there anything our audience could do to help with the above?

Please share any standout moments in your experience that would inspire other performers.

Danscend is happy to be working with hundreds of schools, competitions, and organizations around the world to bring mental wellness education to the performing arts.

What is your best piece of advice you would give to any talent out there?

Pay attention to your thoughts. They can impact your actions and your performance more than you know!

Thanks to all coaches and students for their hard work.

Grab your shirts, hats, phone cases to be a strong team!
